Южная версия Fabolous – молодый и наглый, и тоже приписан к Atlantic/Warner. Тот еще тип (кстати, изначально звался именно Tip). С точки зрения поклонников Madlib – артист в высшей мере безыдейный и бездуховный. Удачно сочетающий черты облизанной стилистами суперзвезды с замашками уличного голодранца
"Urban Legend" - один из самых лучших и одновременно самых успешных (а это не всегда синонимы) "южных" альбомов прошлого года. Совсем не обязательный к прослушиванию, если вам нужны духовные искания, внутренние самокопания и прочие умствования.Идеальный для тачки. И скорее не для безумной езды без оглядки на светофоры, а для вальяжного крейсирования по городским магистралям.
Стартовав каноническим dirty south-звучанием, уже на пятом треке "Prayin For Help" TI отвешивает изящный реверанс Тупаку. Пронизанная духом калифорнийского джи-фанка и ощутимо отдающая шансоном композиция претендует если и не на звание главного хита, то уж точно на статус самого красивого трека на этом альбоме. С ней поспорит "Greatest", один из лучших треков плодовитого "кэшманиевского" продюсера Mannie Fresh за последнее время – с тягучими басами, депрессивными гитарами и нервными барабанными сбивками. А также медляк "Freak Though", сочиненный Фарреллом из Neptunes – с его же неподражаемым фальцетом.
Если же говорить о хитовости, то вне конкуренции динамичный "Bring Em Out", дело рук "раффрайдерзского" продюсера Swizz Beatz. Трек, который отлично подошел бы Jay-Z или тому же Fabolous, но так уж вышло, достался T.I. Хотя и "Chillin With My Bitch", и "Get Loose", и "ASAP", и "U Don't Know Me" тоже очень и очень недурны. А трек "My Life" с Daz Dillinger-ом, перебравшимся на Юг весткост-ренегатом – вообще отдельный восторг, ностальгическое напоминание о днях славы западного побережья.
"Urban Legend" – первый альбом T.I., ставший платиновым. Хотя это скорее заслуга способных битмейкеров, нежели самого главного героя. Уж слишком тускл голос– обратите внимание, насколько более выпукло и небанально на его фоне звучат голоса гостей BG, Nelly или Daz Dillinger. Однако же это не мешает юному стиляге T.I. считаться наследником P. Diddy и Jay-Z.
И последнее. Басы на альбоме такие, что гарантировано выманивают сотрудников соседних офисов из-за столов и влекут их к вашей двери. Вряд ли они разделят ваше неподдельное восхищение раскатами "деррри саус". Но уж по крайней мере вы познакомитесь с теми, кто работает за соседними дверями – не исключено, что это будут симпатичные девушки.
